Oslo, August 17th 2009The artbook about Per Fronth, one of Norway´s most popular artists, and with a large international following, will become the largest presentation of his works till date and will be the most important referencepoint for his artworks for many years to come. In the book, many international art-critics, lead by the american professor John August Wood, will illuminatethe reader of their encounters with the visual universe Per Fronth brings forth. In addition the book will offer the artist own storytelling and perpektives through conversations with art-historian Cecilie Tyri Holt.

Per Fronth is today regarded as one of photographys most innovative artists - pushing the envelope and redefining
our understanding of both the medium and how we see ourselves. With his background as photojournalist in Norway´s largest newspaper Verdens Gang for many years with the world as his everyday office - he now works artistically with the photographers view of the lives we live. As a storyteller Fronth has by his experience from journalism a unique platform for his artistic approach and angle of attacks.

Fronth started his art-career in the art-mekka of New York in the early 1990s where he lived and worked for over 13 years. Through his work Fronths has redefined both his visual worlds and the bounderies of his medium of choice, photography - allowing new definitions to constantly be challenged and developed. Photo-documentary projects has been put to the test by paintings abibilty to tell a story - in the controversial and successful exhibition BLOODLINES - the Duke of Beauforts Foxhunt in London 2000. From this material Fronth introduced himself to the film-medium, producing the awardwinning film Ode to a Hunter which was invited as part of the official programs at Berlin, Toronto and Sundance film-festivals.

The book will address Fronths approach to his own works, stories and themes - the base for his choices as a photographer and artist; from the first exposures during one of Norways worst catastrophies in the oil-industry, the capsizing of the oilrig Alexander Kielland where 123 souls perished in the cold North Sea in March 1980 - to living with indigenous peoples in the Amazonian rainforest culminating with the successful exhibition Xingu Chronicles at Dillon Gallery in New York in 1998 in assiciation with Rainforest Foundation International.

Today Per Fronth is in many international public and private collections; Museum of Modern Art, Wakayame, Japan,
US Library of Congress, Sørlandets Kunstmuseum, Sting & Trudie Styler and former Vice-President Al Gore among others.

In October 2008 Fronth delivered his largest work til date, Photosynthesis 8:31, a glass-installation measuring over 30 m2 and weighing in at over 1,2 ton, for the Rouge Tomate NYC on Fifth Avenue in New York. This was the third colloboration with the reknowned architectual frim, Bentel & Bentel of LI, New York,
